Islay scotch whisky distillery originally founded in 1881. Bruichladdich was closed in 1994 but a group of private investors purchased and restored the distillery. Officially reopened in the early 2000s. The distillery operates three labels under its overarching brand: Bruichladdich (unpeated), Port Charlotte (peated), and Octomore (heavily peated). In 2011, Bruichladdich began producing an Islay gin called The Botanist, which uses 22 Islay foraged botanicals.
